Access to the service costs and funding
Access to the service, costs and funding.
Schools have access to the instructional team and facilities during the school day at no charge. This is provided at a ratio of one day of instructor time for every 90 pupils in an establishment, with the proviso that small schools will be entitled to one day’s access per year regardless of their school role.
In addition to this entitlement, it is planned that one or more staff will be available at the Whiteadder sailing base from May to the end of September and schools can request access to this facility during this period at no charge. A number of local schools already make good use of this facility, this arrangement is a legacy of the NOPES Big Lottery Programme and the substantial investment of lottery and other funds at the time of this programme.
School staff may discuss proposed activities directly with OE instructional staff at any time, but firm requests for provision must be made directly to the OE manager at
jhall@scotborders.gov.uk, who will also deal with initial enquiries.
Schools wishing to access the service over and above this basic provision and community groups may access the service on a charged basis and should contact the OE manager initially to discuss this matter.
