BORDERER ATHLETES WIN GOLD AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS


Two young athletes from the Borders were victorious in the Scottish National Relay Championships at Pitreavie at the weekend (18th July).

John Glen from Galashiels competed in the U17 Boys 4x100 relay for Edinburgh Athletics Club. The team that included Cameron Goodall, Jay Younger, John Glen & Tom Holligan won the race in a time of 44.41. John who is only 15 and is a pupil at Galashiels Academy has a P.B of 11.46 for the 100m and 22.83 for the 200m is hoping to improve his P.B's this season and is looking forward to the Scottish Championships in August.

Coran Darling from Earlston competed in the U15 Boys 4x100 relay and also won a gold medal with a stunning display. Coran who was given permission by
Tweed, Leader, Jed Track (TLJT) to compete for Edinburgh A.C was in a team that consisted of Kyle Hogg, Ben Robbins, Jamie Batho and won the race in a time of 46.90. Coran who has a P.B for the 100m of 12.20 and 24.88 for the 200m also recently competed in the Super8's at Scotstoun Stadium and won the 300m with a time of 40.06s and finished 4th in the long jump on his first attempt at the discipline, with a leap of 4.94m. Coran also helped the Edinburgh medley relay team to victory in the last event of the night, winning the 400m leg.

Congratulations to both boys and hopefully we'll hear more about them in the upcoming months.
