27 Year Old Record Falls at Birmingham Games

The Scotland U20 4x400m team of Anthony Young (Pitreavie), Jay Younger (Edinburgh AC), Greg Louden (Lasswade) and Guy Learmonth (Lasswade) broke the Scottish junior record with a time of 3.14.25, to erase a mark that had stood for almost 27 years, as they finished 3rd at the Birmingham Games on Saturday 24th July.

The previous record of 3.14.57 was set at Meadowbank on the 13th August 1983 and belonged to the team of Brian Whittle, Jim Nicoll, Martin Johnston and Mark McMahon – all of whom are still ranked in the Scottish top 20 all-time over 400m.
