Meet the Outdoor Education Team
JOHN HALL
John is based at headquarters and is the manager of the outdoor education service and the first point of contact for enquiries relating to the ELL excursions policy. He has qualifications in canoeing, sailing, skiing, biking, hill walking and climbing and is Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme manager for the Borders region.
John has a degree in marine biology, a teaching qualification in biology and outdoor activities and holds a diploma in sport and recreation for working with disabled people.
His main outside interests include fishing and organic gardening.

JENNI CHANGLENG
Jenni is based in Peebles and regularly works as far a field as Hawick High School. Jenni has a range of qualifications which mean she can offer the following activities: hill walking; navigation training; orienteering; hill walking expeditions (including Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme); rock climbing; mountain biking; team building. She also assists in the teaching of sailing at St.Mary’s Loch and Whiteadder Reservoir.
In addition Jenni can also support learning in the outdoors where a teacher wants to use the natural environment to enhance the student experience and needs an experienced outdoor practitioner to manage the field trip.
Jenni has worked within education for many years as a home link worker and a Feuerstein practitioner, engaging students who are often difficult to reach – this experience means that she am happy to offer sessional work for students with behaviour issues.

ANDY WISHART
Andy was a full time member of the O.E. team in the Borders until relatively recently and is well known to many schools, particularly in Berwickshire. Andy holds qualifications in hill walking, canoeing, sailing and skiing and has many years experience of supporting the D.of E. award scheme as Award Leader, supervisor and assessor.He is a commercially endorsed yachmaster and has worked in sail training as well as working many seasons as an instructor at Whiteadder sailing school.
Andy holds a degree and teaching qualification in geography and has had extensive experience of fieldwork across a range of subjects.
ANDREW WILSON

Andrew Wilson is based in the Yarrow valley. He is qualified as a Mountain Leader, Orienteering Leader, Swift Water rescue Technitian, he has a MA in Environmental Studies, and has completed the Trail Cycle Leader training course. Andrew was a call out member of the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team for four years, and is currently working freelance for the Galloway Outdoor Activities Service, where he lead groups of children from P4 - S6 hill walking, orienteering (standard and higher grade), and in Team building activities. He has been involved in training Duke of Edinburgh instructors, teaching night navigation and camp craft. He is also a leader with World Challenge where he has led expeditions in Tunisia. This summer he is leading an expedition up Mount Toubkal in Morrocco. From his home he runs navigation courses as a provider for the National
Navigation Award Scheme, including guided walks mountain craft and expeditions. With his wife he runs environmental projects for children, where they focus on various environmental issues eg the plight of the bees,climate change and alternative energy, the children join in making a giant willow sculpture, playing environmental and team building games, making costumes, and finishing with a play that they create about the subject they have been discussing.
Andrew is available to lead groups from your school on hill walking, orienteering, team building, and Duke of Edinburgh Award training and can work throughout the Scottish Borders.
KEITH IRVING

Keith works as outdoor education technician one day per week and is also employed as a mountain biking instructor. He holds the mountain bike leader award and is also a Cycling Scotland trainer and a Cytec level two trained bike mechanic.
Keith’s interests include recreational mountain biking and kayaking.
