Partnerships and Programmes

Active Schools work with many partners to achieve their aims and outcomes.There are many organisations that work jointly with local Active Schools Coordinators to impact on the local young people.

Active Schools have worked in partnership with NHS Borders, Sports Development Unit, Coaching Development, Disability Sport, Social Work and Volunteer Centre Borders, to name a few.

Some of the current Active Schools partnerships and programmes are listed below. 
 

 

Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week

Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week aims to use the power of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire more young people to understand the value of sport and to take part in sport and physical activity.

Bank of Scotland National School Sport Week runs from 7-11 June 2010 across Scotland and will provide a wonderful celebration of sport and physical activity in your school.  Use the opportunity to get everyone involved!

Tesco Great School Run

The Tesco Great School Run is a 2k fun run staged at schools across the UK encouraging children to take part in exercise for fun, and to help make physical activity part of each school's and every family's lifestyle.

It is now in its 6th year and aims to involve over 1 million children from all across the UK. This year's event will be better than ever ……To find out more or to get involved contact your local Coordinator.

 

Champions in Schools

Champions in Schools is a new initiative aimed at school pupils to help them fulfil their potential in all aspects of life.  Find out more about the Programme and what schools can get from the programme.......
 
 

Young Ambassadors

When London won the right to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games they made a promise to use the power of the Games to inspire millions of young people. The Young Ambassador programme is a result of that promise. Scottish Borders have now recruited a team of Ambassadors.

Active Schools Training Programme

Active Schools have been working hard to produce a comprehgensive programme of training opportunities for volunteers.  The programme details a variety of basic training courses that are available. Find out more about volunteering for Active Schools.........

Sports Leaders UK

Sports Leaders UK awards and qualifications use the medium of sport to help people to learn to lead. Pupils learn the essential skills of leadership: communication, organisation and motivation. This provides opportunities for young people to volunteer as a Sports Leader and take up a purposeful role within their community and gain recognition for their skills as a leader.

Active Schools work in partnership with schools to delivery Sports Leadership to senior pupils. 

 

Fit For Girls

Fit for Girls is a national programme aimed at getting secondary girls more active, Find out more about the Fit for Girls programme and who is involved.......

Scottish Cycle Training Scheme

Active schools are working with the local Road Safety unit to support the delivery of the Scottish Cycle Training Scheme to P6/7 pupils. Find out how the programme works and how you can train as a cycle trainer to lead the training sessions to pupils.

Soccer One

Bank of Scotland Soccer one programme offers secondary pupils both boys and girls to take part in training sessions throughout the school year. Find out more about the programme......

ClubGolf

first clubgolf is the introductory programme aimed at P5 pupils to learn the basic skills using fun modified equipment. Find out more about the clubgolf programme and how you can get involved in local sessions.

Jog Scotland

Active Schools are looking for volunteers to train as Jog Scotland leaders to run local programmes, find out how you can get involved....

 

 

 

Club Links

Active Schools work closely with local sports clubs and recreation clubs to provide children with additional motivation and opportunities to participate in physical activity. Active Schools and club links are essential in providing pathways towards a healthy and active lifestyle. Clubs can benefit greatly from raising their profile in the community, expanding their junior membership, sharing resources, gaining access to additional facilities as well as coach and volunteer development.
