Peebles RFC Touch Rugby Tournament 2009

With the summer holidays upon us it is also time to start thinking about this years Touch Rugby Tournament.  For those who are still playing rugby it is a good way to top up the "pre-season" training and for the less active it's a good way of working up a sweat for an hour in public with your pals and not get too many strange looks from other people in Hay Lodge Park!!!!

The event is open to teams from throughout the area and we are looking to encourage local businesses/workplaces to enter, with the emphasise on having fun at the same time as getting some exercise. If you a group of friends/colleagues who fancy having a go then please do, get a couple of rugby players on board and come along for some fun.

All games are taking place at Hay Lodge Park, beginning at 7.30pm.  The provisional dates of the games are;

Wednesday 15th, 22nd & 29th July, 5th August

Finals Night & BBQ - Friday 7th August

The format for the competition really depends on the number of teams entered and this will be decided nearer the start date and to assist with the planning I would encourage anyone looking to put a team in to graemeipaterson@aol.com as soon as possible. 

In order to keep the fun element of the event and to encourage as many people to participate as possible the following few basic rules apply in making up your teams;

1. Squads can be made up of as many players as you like, however a suggested limit would be 10 players - games will be 7-a-side

2. Each squad must contain at least 1 female, 1 U-18, 1 "Non-player" (novice) and 1 Over-35 player with 2 on the pitch at any time

3. No more than 5 senior players in each squad
