The Scottish FA, as governing body of our National sport, acknowledges its responsibility in the area of child development and has devised the Mini Kickers programme, which provides a football skills curriculum for children aged 2½ to 5 years.
The principle of the Mini Kickers programme is to develop a child’s basic motor skills, with the child’s state of physical, psychological and social development in mind. The aim is to give children a good physical and social foundation to start football skill training.
The Scottish FA Mini Kickers Coaches are fully trained and follow a curriculum specifically devised to acknowledge a child’s psychological and social development, as part of their overall development. The coaching is focused on creating a child who is motivated, confident and has a positive attitude towards exercise as well as having fun interacting with children of a similar age.
