Volunteering

Volunteers sit at the heart of the work of Active Schools. Without their support, the majority of Active Schools activities couldn't happen. We rely on a huge supporting network of people to make things happen. This support network is made up of a cross section of teachers, other school staff, parents, coaches, young people, club members and other volunteers.

 

Why do Active Schools need Volunteers?

Active Schools is a national drive that aims to get children more active. One of the targets of Active Schools is to offer all children and young people the opportunities and motivation to adopt active, healthy lifestyles. To achieve this Active Schools needs to recruit and support a network of volunteers as they are vital to ensure activities are successful and sustainable. Without volunteers Active Schools can only provide limited opportunities to children and young people.   

 

What can a volunteer do?

A volunteer can help out in many different ways relating to sport or recreational activities within the Active Schools programme, depending on your skills and interests. Roles include:

Administrator	Providing Transport	Activity leader/deliverer
Playground helper	Assisting others with the delivery of activities	General Volunteer
Cycle Proficiency	Assist at Events/Festivals	Clubgolf deliverer
Fundraiser	Organising events

The following flowchart shows the simple steps involved in becoming a volunteer with Active Schools.

 

RECRUITMENT    Get in touch with your local Coordinator to register an interest in Volunteering.

TRAINING Complete training if required

GET VOLUNTEERING ASC will induct and support you in a volunteer opportunity.
